Transfer Focus: Everton keen on £14.5million forward as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku

According to TMW, Everton have joined the chase to sign Lazio forward Keita Balde Diao.

What’s the Word?

According to the latest report, 22-year-old Keita Balde Diao is a target for Everton as they look for a replacement for the likely departing Romelu Lukaku.

However, TMW believes that Lazio will accept no less than £26million for the young star, despite the fact Transfermarkt value Keita at just £14.5million.

How good has Keita been this season?

Fear not Everton fans, Keita is not another Niasse-type signing. While not all at Goodison Park will have heard his name before, the 22-year-old has been lighting up Serie A with his phenomenal performances for Lazio.

In 35 appearances for the Rome-based club, Keita has notched an impressive 16 goals. Perhaps an even more impressive tally is the 10 goals that the Senegalese star has converted in just 7 games when starting as the lone frontman.

Would Keita be a good signing for Everton?

While he doesn’t possess the enormous presence of the departing Romelu Lukaku, Keita is an ample replacement. The young forward stands at just over 6ft tall and is just as agile as Lukaku.

However, what is most impressive about Keita is his composed finishing when in dangerous situations.

If Lukaku leaves Everton this summer, there will be an enormous void and a distinct lack of offensive threat within the squad.

It is essential that Keita, or a player of similar calibre, is bought in quickly to ensure that the fans and players soon forget about the potentially departing Belgian.
