Transfer Focus: Liverpool linked with former Chelsea attacker

According to Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones, Liverpool are interested in signing former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah.

What’s the Word?

As part of his latest Inside Football column, Jones has claimed the 52-cap Egypt international is one of the men on Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist as the Liverpool gaffer looks to bring a new attacking option to Anfield.

It’s added that talks with current employers Roma are already underway, but the chances of a summer switch to Merseyside will become more clear once Salah joins up with the Egypt squad this Saturday – although it’s not exactly clear why.

Transfermarkt value Salah at £25.5million.

How good has Salah been this season?

Surprisingly to all who watched him during his time at Stamford Bridge, Mohamed Salah has been somewhat of a revelation in Italy and this campaign is no exception.

The Egyptian international has made 40 appearances in all competitions for Roma this season, scoring 19 goals in the process.

Would Salah be a good signing for Liverpool?

Even Jurgen Klopp would likely admit that Liverpool became too reliant on Sadio Mane this season. When the Senegalese international was injured or on international duty, the team found it hard to maintain the gung-ho tactics so regularly associated with their German manager.

Mohamed Salah would be the perfect signing to help Mane cope with these kinds of pressures. The 24-year-old has become a very dangerous threat from wide areas during his time in Rome; his lightning pace and unforgiving stamina proving too much for some defences.
