In one of the most memorable seasons’ in recent times for Monaco, their young crop of stars impressed immeasurably and battled to domestic glory and a Champions league semi-final place.
Now, it seems that virtually all of their talent is being tipped for moves away to other European elite clubs.
Thomas Lemar, Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho, Mendy and more have all been generating interest from around the continent and it really is no surprise to see why.
Mendy himself has been a revelation at full-back. The 22-year-old featured 36 times in all competitions for Monaco and helped his team with a goal and a creditable eight assists from defence.
The Frenchman is not only a fantastic asset going forward, as every full-back should be in today’s game, he is also a fantastic defender. With raw pace, dribbling and passing ability to match anyone in his position, it Is no surprise to see Liverpool make an enquiry.
Unfortunately, despite having Champions League football in place for the upcoming season, it doesn’t appear that Liverpool will be able to battle with the financial might of Manchester City in order to recruit Mendy. Monaco will likely be demanding over-the-odds for their young superstars and Manchester City are one of the only teams whose cash flow is immeasurably expendable.
