According to The Sun, West Ham are ready to offer £25million plus Adrian in order to land highly rated Sunderland ‘keeper Jordan Pickford.

What’s the Word?

Despite a disappointing season which saw Sunderland relegated, Jordan Pickford has been praised for his individual performances and reports this month have suggested that the 23-year-old is close to completing a move to Everton.

However, there has been no movement in this potential transfer and other Premier League clubs have seemingly also set their sights on the young star.

One of these clubs is reported to be West Ham, who are ready to offer £17million for the player, plus their current number one stopper Adrian.

How good has Pickford been this season?

While the English media have a tendency to hype up any young star who has enriched the Premier League with their talents, Pickford has made a truly monumental rise this season and could well be the real deal.

While his impressive shot-stopping has ensured the 23-year-old is a perennial feature on weekly highlight compilations, it is his maturity, positioning and anticipation that has most impressed fans and journalists alike.

Would Pickford be a good fit for West Ham?

With first choice goalkeeper Adrian dropped earlier in the season, Darren Randolph was the man between the stick at the London Stadium for much of the campaign.

While the Republic of Ireland international was professional and dedicated, he is unlikely to be considered a genuine first choice ‘keeper for the club. And while Adrian has a cult following among Hammers fans, he is prone to errors and arguably ranks among the least consistent goalkeepers in the top flight.

Pickford is a genuine, talented, long-term answer the goalkeeping conundrum at West Ham. The 23-year-old has proven he is more than capable in the Premier League and can handle the pressure of an expectant crowd in East London.
