According to O Jogo (via Sport Witness), West Ham have been watching Benfica striker Raul Jimenez and could make a move for the Mexican international.

What's the Story?

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo believe that West Ham are leading the race to sign Raul Jimenez from Benifca, after a number of Premier League scouts watched the Portuguese side train at St. George's Park earlier this week.

The 25-year-old, who is valued at £10.2million by Transfermarkt, would reportedly be available for between £20-£30million, a fee which certainly wouldn't dissaude West Ham from making an approach.

How good was Jimenez last season?

Adequate. Jimenez featured in 25 games for Benfica last season, scoring eight goals. While most of these appearances were from the bench, the Mexican international still had a significant impact as Benfica has yet another season of domestic dominance.

Jimenez displayed once again his aerial dominance, which is undoubtedly the most advanced area of his game. However, the Mexican also impressed with the ball at his feet and was proficient in holding up play for teammates. It may not have been a prolific season for the 26-year-old but he continues to prove he can be a handful when on his game.

Would Jimenez be a good signing for West Ham?

Following the signing of Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen, it would be truly remarkable if West Ham were able to purchase Jimenez too. The pair have played together numerous times for Mexico and their little and large partnership has worked very well on occasions. It would be fascinating to see a partnership form if the Hammers were to move for Jimenez.
