According to Footmercato, West Ham have joined a number of European clubs in eyeing Bundesliga midfielder Thorgan Hazard.

What's the Story?

The report from France claims that West Ham have joined the race to sign Belgian international, and brother of Eden, Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach.

It is thought that the Hammers will join a long list of interested parties who wish to snap up the 24-year-old, including Arsenal, Stoke City, Leicester City, Monaco and Lyon.

Hazard, who is valued at £10.2million by transfermarkt, has reportedly spoken of his admiration for Premier League football in the past and could make a return to the English game, which he left two years ago.

How good has Hazard been this season?

A mixed bag. While Thorgan has obviously been nowhere near as impressive as his brother and former teammate Eden, the 24-year-old is still one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the German game.

Injuries were a real issue for the Belgian and disrupted his season immeasurably. Nevertheless, he still managed 10 goals and six assists in just 27 appearances in all competitions.

The Belgian was actually one of the most in-form players in Europe during the first two months of the season, before injuries took their toll. He had scored seven time in 10 games and was lighting up the Bundesliga with some sumptuous offensive displays and technical skills.

Should Hazard head to the Hammers?

A good move for both parties. West Ham would be getting a classy young player who will run his socks off for the shirt, while the player would be at the highest platform that any footballer can reach - the Premier League.
