West Brom's promotion run-in is temporarily on hold with the world of football on lockdown for the next month at the very least.

So it's probably a good time to look back on their 2019/20 campaign with only nine games remaining before their fate is decided - will it be a return to the Premier League? Or the Championship for a third season?

The Baggies currently sit second in the standings having led the pack for the majority of the season, although they do still possess a six-point advantage to the playoff positions.

Slaven Bilic has certainly transformed the club since the heartbreak of missing out in the playoffs last term; the likes of Matheus Pereira, Romaine Sawyers and Grady Diangana have all brought a spark to the Hawthorns.

But there have been a few stinkers too, most notably Kenneth Zohore, their mega-money summer signing.

kenneth zohore flop of the season

The 26-year-old joined in an £8m move from relegated Cardiff City and has failed to set the ground alight in the west Midlands and therefore is their 'flop of the season'.

When you fail to stake a claim over Hal Robson-Kanu, you know something has gone seriously wrong.

It took him until January to score his first goal from open play - his previous two were gifted from the spot. A return of five goals from just 735 minutes looks good on paper, but when you take away the penalties and the two in the cup, you'll see he has hardly contributed to their fortunes in the league.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all of these obscure West Brom players...

The blame can fall on Bilic for allowing him in as their first signing of the summer, but in reality, it needs to put on sporting and technical director Luke Dowling.

£8m for a player that bagged just once in the top-flight last term is absurd - Charlie Austin cost half that even considering his prolific record of 76 goals in 158 appearances at this level.

Oliver Burke cost the club £15m in 2017 and now he's out on loan at Alaves in La Liga because he isn't deemed good enough to play for a Championship outfit.

Although Dowling played no part in that deal, it's clear to see that poor financial transactions are a recurring theme that needs to be eradicated at the Hawthorns.

You can arguably predict that Zohore will follow a similar pattern next season, certainly if Albion earn promotion, so this one is on the man who sanctioned the sevent-figure fee to sign him.

It just hasn't paid of whatsoever.

And in other news, West Brom target Karlan Grant, but would it be a good move?...
