West Brom would probably take Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne back if given the opportunity, journalist Luke Hatfield has told Football FanCast.

Diagne spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, joining from Galatasaray during the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old was able to chip in with a few goals, but it was not enough as the Baggies were ultimately condemned to relegation.

Diagne has since returned to Galatasaray but is a player who would be welcomed back to The Hawthorns, according to Hatfield.

"I think West Brom would probably take him if he was willing to play in the Championship," the Express & Star reporter said. "I think he showed enough last season for fans to be, you know, intrigued by him. They kind of took to him pretty well.

"He didn't probably score the number of goals that he would have hoped for after coming in on loan, but it wasn't for the want of trying. He was certainly in the right places at the right time and was just a little bit unfortunate."

Indeed, Diagne was far from prolific during that brief spell with West Brom, scoring three goals in total.

However, he did show some quality, with two of those goals coming against Manchester United and Chelsea, so it would not be a surprise if the Midlands club felt he was worth taking another punt on - certainly one for West Brom fans to keep an eye on.
