West Bromwich Albion are enjoying something of a resurgence under Carlos Corberan, having won three consecutive games for the first time all season in their last three outings, moving them clear of the Championship relegation zone ahead of the World Cup break.

During their time of turmoil under Steve Bruce, there were seldom opportunities to hand to youngsters given the seriousness of their situation, as with each game week came another poor result.

Should the Spaniard now be able to put a run together and secure themselves in mid-table, he might want to look into an academy that is bursting with talent just waiting to express themselves on the Hawthorns turf.

One such man, who is currently earning vital senior experience out on loan, is Quevin Castro.

The Portuguese youngster is billed as a versatile attacking midfielder who can also play off the right, boasting a keen eye for goal as well as a seemingly endless tank of energy.

With the recent success of Taylor Gardner-Hickman, and John Swift ready to reach his peak years, the 21-year-old has a clear pathway into the first team and could learn so much from the creative Championship stalwart.

Currently boasting the best average SofaScore rating of anyone at West Brom, the 27-year-old will prove a tough man to replace in the long run.

However, Castro has already shown glimpses that soon he could be ready for steady integration alongside him.

The youngster already has two goals in just seven National League appearances for Notts County and is progressing well after a roller-coaster of a season last year.

He made three senior appearances for the Baggies, including a start against Arsenal in their EFL Cup clash. It is clear he is already well known at the club, with Kevin Campbell later weighing in to praise the management team on their acquisition of this young talent.

The former Gunners frontman claimed: “Castro is a midfielder runner and he’s good on the ball. This is what you need in the Championship. Castro is going to be an exciting signing.”

Following this campaign, he will have a whole season of first-team football under his belt and will be in the perfect position to challenge the similarly workmanlike Swift for his role.

Surely it will not be long before he overtakes him, given the glowing recommendation Campbell had of him.
