West Brom could be looking at the possibility of taking a striker from MLS according to one Baggies reporter.

What's the news?

In a recent article for the Birmingham Mail, West Brom journalist Joe Chapman had this to say about the possibility of the club making a move to sign Orlando City striker Daryl Dike in January.

He said: "I wouldn’t entirely rule out the signing of someone like Daryl Dike. We know Ismael knows all about him, that he’s a big fan of him. He got a serious tune out of Dike at Barnsley last season, and he’s very well-liked out in the MLS.

"He’s someone who has been linked with the Premier League; as we’ve seen before, players in the MLS will come over here at this time of year because their season has finished, or is about to finish. Provided they could agree something with Orlando, Daryl Dike would still very much be their number one."

With the 21-year-old having scored a total of 28 goals in 63 appearances in total for Orlando and Barnsley, it's easy to see why West Brom would be interested in bringing the striker to The Hawthorns in January to push them closer to the top of the table with his goals.

Despite sitting in third place of the Championship table with 37 points from 21 games played so far this season, West Brom have scored the least amount of goals (29) out of any of the top five teams in the league.

Meanwhile, West Brom's top goalscorer in the division so far this season with nine goals is Karlan Grant, which isn't a lot compared to Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has 21 goals.

With this in mind and the fact that the January transfer window is opening very soon, it seems as though the Midlands club should look to secure the signature of Dike who could add a bit of extra attacking power to Valerien Ismael's squad.

If West Brom do manage to finally bring the forward to the club for his reunion with Ismael after being linked with him over the previous summer transfer window, this would surely have a lot of Baggies fans buzzing. Especially if he can become their main regular goalscorer and push them closer to promotion back to the Premier League, which would make it a very smart investment from the club.

On the basis of what he did under Ismael at Barnsley - bagging nine in 22 - they could be a match made in heaven.
