West Bromwich Albion appear to finally be making some moves in the transfer market and latest reports should provide a huge dose of encouragement that their Premier League return will not be a short stay...

What's the word?

According to Football Insider, the Baggies have made an approach to sign Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi as Slaven Bilic looks for attacking reinforcements this summer.

It's claimed that the Belgian striker is one name on their shortlist and that they have asked Frank Lampard about the prospects of having him on a season-long loan deal.

The Blues want to offload Batshuayi on a permanent basis but that doesn't mean they won't listen to offers of a temporary move.

He was once valued at £50m by Chelsea and now he could leave for less than half that.

Instant upgrade

The 26-year-old has struggled to cement his name down ahead of both Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order last term, but that doesn't make him any less of a quality striker.

In his last spell away from Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi displayed qualities that any side could do with, scoring five goals in nine starts for Crystal Palace in 2018/19.

He also averaged 2.5 shots, 0.8 dribbles and 1.1 aerial duels won, via WhoScored, which hints towards the sort of striker he is - FourFourTwo once compared him to Blues legend Didier Drogba, citing his 'deadly finishing' and ghosting movement as key factors.

During his time at the Eagles, former striker-turned-pundit John Hartson claimed that Batshuayi has "clearly got genuine quality."

Maybe it's time for him to fulfil that potential at the Hawthorns next season - he'd certainly be a better option than Kenneth Zohore, who struggled for goals in the Championship as well as Hal Robson-Kanu, who has only scored 12 goals in the PL over the course of his career.

Having the likes of Matheus Pereira and perhaps Grady Diangana feeding Batshuayi in should be a mouthwatering prospect for Bilic and co.

AND in other news, West Brom should look to Championship STAR to replace Zohore...
