West Bromwich Albion have not been shy when it comes to signing players on loan deals, especially from fellow English clubs.

One player who the Baggies signed on a temporary basis and whose services they had throughout their previous Premier League campaign is Conor Gallagher.

Signed in September 2020 on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea, the midfielder made 32 appearances for the Midlands club, scoring two goals and supplying two assists in the process.

In terms of what he offered the Baggies during his loan spell, no other player could equal the number of combined tackles and interceptions that the Englishman racked up (121).

With Albion now looking to once again get back to the Premier League, the current transfer window could give the Baggies the chance to bring in someone who could be their next version of Gallagher.

One player who has been linked with a move to the club and who could fit that bill is Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury.

Having made 53 Premier League appearances for the Foxes, the midfielder has racked up a combined total of 144 tackles and interceptions, highlighting his defensive talent and suggesting that he could offer the team something similar to what Gallagher delivered during his spell at The Hawthorns.

In addition, the 24-year-old has won 64.9% of his aerial duels, which shows how imposing he can be in the air as well as on the floor.

Hailed for his "outstanding" performances by Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers in the past, Choudhury could be a vital figure for the Baggies in their efforts to reach the Premier League.

Even though West Brom only conceded 45 goals throughout their previous campaign, having a player like the Leicester talent could be just what they need to ensure that their defence is strong enough to be in the promotion mix by the end of the 2022/23 season.

In terms of convincing the £61k-per-week midfielder to join the Baggies, the fact that he only started four of the six league games in which he appeared last season could suggest that he isn't likely to be a regular starter at the King Power Stadium next term.

Therefore, if Steve Bruce can guarantee regular game-time for him at West Brom, this could make a move to The Hawthorns a viable option for the player.
