West Bromwich Albion's move to appoint Steve Bruce as the club's next manager is all but confirmed.

What's the talk?

That's according to a claim made by Simon Stone, with the BBC Sport journalist revealing in a recent post on Twitter that the 61-year-old's appointment at The Hawthorns is extremely close to completion.

In his tweet, Stone said: "Steve Bruce to WBA nearly done."

Fans will be devastated

With one of the primary reasons West Brom fans wanted Valerien Ismael to be sacked being the Frenchman's style of football, the news that Albion look set to confirm Bruce as the 46-year-old's successor is sure to have left many of The Hawthorns faithful devastated.

Indeed, the 61-year-old was often criticised for his own brand of football during his spell in charge of Newcastle United, with the manager himself admitting Toon fans thought his "style of football is rubbish," as well as the St. James' Park faithful dubbing him "tactically inept."

And, while there is an argument to be made that Bruce has overseen four promotions to the Premier League, in addition to keeping the Magpies up in back to back seasons, whether or not the veteran coach is the exciting and ambitious appointment Albion fans will have undoubtedly been hoping for following Ismael's departure is very much up for debate.

Indeed, on a poll ran on Football FanCast this morning, the vast majority of Baggies supporters stated the reason for them being against the club's appointment of Bruce was his style of football - something which, considering they are the ones who part with their hard-earned money to go and watch the football at The Hawthorns, would appear to be a very valid reason.
