West Ham United could be set to snatch a deal from a Premier League rival, with a top European winger the subject of their advances...

What’s the latest?

That's according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who took to Twitter to issue an update on Arnaut Danjuma's future.

Despite Everton's fierce interest, the Hammers are still noted as keen and could move for the Dutchman in a way that the Toffees cannot. Due to financial restrictions at Goodison Park, the Merseysiders are seeking loans for both him and Anthony Elanga.

With a reported €54m (£45m) release clause present, it seems that Everton could be priced out of a move for Danjuma, allowing David Moyes to swoop in.

Cornet upgrade

A move for another winger so soon after the summer addition of Maxwel Cornet would apparently see the West Ham manager admitting defeat on that transfer, given how the Ivory Coast international has struggled since his move to the London Stadium.

Signed for £17.5m, the 26-year-old is yet to score a goal for the club in nine appearances, with all of his assists coming in the Europa Conference League.

This is a far cry from the trickster the Irons thought they had acquired, one who was instrumental in Burnley's ultimately unsuccessful fight for Premier League survival.

Last season, in an admittedly poor Clarets side, Cornet scored nine times in just 28 appearances. There was hope that by moving into a West Ham squad with far more quality, these numbers would increase further.

That could not have been further from the truth, and it seems like Danjuma could be called upon to solve the issue for which the 26-year-old Ivorian was recruited last August.

This campaign has seen the Dutchman score six times as he looked to emulate his scintillating debut season in Spain, when he recorded 20 goal contributions.

It was his form at Bournemouth which will have first drawn the attention of the Irons' hierarchy, where he scored 17 times and set up a further seven goals on his way to being named in the Championship's team of the season in 2020/21.

Since then, he has been dubbed a "nightmare for defenders" by former Premier League Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips.

Despite apparent worries over Danjuma's attitude for the Cherries, it seems that Moyes will look beyond that and instead is willing to take a calculated gamble in order to reap tangible results.

This is something he has yet to receive from Cornet, but would be almost guaranteed with Danjuma given his record over the past couple of years.
