West Ham United boast a prestigious academy that has produced some of the country's most talented players, and it seems set to churn out another sparkling crop once again.

Many of this generation earned praise for their performances in the recent Europa Conference League matches, as plenty of opportunities were handed out by David Moyes to those who had earned them.

Now, of those that took that chance, they could be set to be recalled in an effort to revitalise their torrid season.

The Hammers currently sit 16th in the Premier League, but just one point separates them from the relegation zone.

It has been a tough season for the east London outfit, who have struggled to live up to the expectations set by last season's seventh-placed finish and Europa League semi-final.

Goals have also been hard to come by, and their tally of 18 in 21 games is among the lowest in the league. Danny Ings was brought in to quell that issue, but an instant injury could suggest he is set to once again be plagued by a lack of fitness.

His recruitment was a searing indication of Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio's place in the team, as both have disappointed.

The latter in particular has seen a sharp downturn in form, which led to reports touting his exit throughout last month.

Perhaps by unleashing one of those Europa Conference League stars, Moyes can finally ditch the talismanic Jamaican who has seen his powers wane of late.

With just two league goals in 20 games this term, Divin Mubama can hardly do any worse, given how he has shone this season for both the youth and senior sides.

Thriving in the U18s Premier League, where he had four goals in as many games, the 18-year-old translated this form into success for the U21s too by scoring six times in just 11 appearances.

He also notched an assist in the Irons' final group match of their European run and saw his diving header deflected in for their second goal. Although it went down as an own goal, he admitted that "no one can take that moment away from me."

Moyes has since considered him for his plans as recently as their clash with Derby County, where he did come off the bench. Before the game, the Scotsman had stated: "I would like to have Divin involved - I like him around the group. He gives us great energy, he's a great runner."

He continued: "He is willing to work and run for the team - he is a real team player, which I really like. We like him and think he has got a chance."

Perhaps Mubama should now be handed that chance, to finally displace Antonio.

The 32-year-old has been a fine servant to West Ham, but this relentless teenage marksman has all the traits to surpass him should he just stake his claim.
