Former West Ham striker Brian Deane has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic would be a good signing for his old side.

The east London club are currently being linked with a move for the 6 ft 2 Serbian forward, with Turkish football reporter Ekrem Konur claiming that talks could be held in the summer over a transfer. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that David Moyes is an admirer of the player.

West Ham targeting a new No.9 in the next transfer window will come as no surprise after they sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January without bringing in a replacement.

In Mitrovic, though, they could finally land that replacement, and Deane believes it could be smart business.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about the Hammers' reported interest in Mitrovic, the ex-West Ham player said:

"You need somebody who knows the way around the box. You know, there's a lot of people out there who will just take a look at a player and not understand why a manager wants somebody like him. This is a guy who is the record scorer for his country.

"Yeah, he's not the most mobile of players. But what you've got with him is somebody who is there to finish off moves, so I think he would be a good signing."

While Mitrovic has not had his best season in front of goal, he has shown his pedigree in the Premier League in the past, hitting double figures back in the 2018-19 campaign.

He has also scored an incredible 41 goals in 64 appearances for Serbia so could very well be worth a punt now that Fulham have been relegated.
