West Ham fans will be pleased with how new signing Nikola Vlasic plays football, says former Everton defender Michael Ball.

Ball, who is acquainted with Vlasic's agent, has watched the 23-year-old following his spell at Goodison Park.

West Ham signed Vlasic from CSKA Moscow at the end of the transfer window for around £25m, though that fee could rise to over £30m after add-ons.

The Croatian impressed during his time at the Arena CSKA, reaching double figures for goals in the previous two Russian Premier League seasons.

And while that form obviously did come in a division that is not as strong as its English counterpart, Ball is still expecting Vlasic to deliver in his new surroundings.

"You've got to give him huge credit," the ex-Everton full-back exclusively said to FFC. "He could've sat at Everton and picked up the money, but he wanted to go and play football, it's worked for him and now he's got a huge move to West Ham.

"The West Ham faithful will be pretty pleased with how he plays football because he gives everything. He gives everything for the shirt and he tries his best.

"And if he's improved as a player, West Ham will have a good, exciting player to watch week in and week out."

With Jesse Lingard not returning to the club after his loan spell last season, West Ham definitely needed another attacking player to compete for a top-six spot again. David Moyes will now be hoping Vlasic can help them to do just that.
