In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Marlon Harewood, who made 164 appearances for West Ham, believes Jesse Lingard won’t be thinking of joining any other club than West Ham this summer following a report from ESPN earlier this month suggesting the likes of PSG and Real Madrid are now interested.
Lingard joined the Irons on loan in January and he has been in fine form, even earning himself a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the European Championships this summer.
Since the 28-year old joined the Hammers he has average a WhoScored rating of 7.64 in the Premier League, which has come about by scoring nine goals and registering four assists in just 11 league games.
Speaking on why Lingard will want to stay at West Ham after getting a taste of the club and how he won’t be considering any other club, Harewood told FFC:
“When you’re in there at West Ham you understand what it’s like as a family club and how things work. You just want to play for them and I’ll be very surprised if he goes anywhere else.
“I think because he’s had a taste of West Ham he will want to stay, and if there’s a place that he would want to go it would probably be West Ham.”
It has been reported that Man United may look to include Lingard in a deal that would see Declan Rice go the other way and move to Old Trafford.
Lingard’s future may depend on West Ham’s ability to qualify for the Champions League as they currently sit fourth ahead of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
