Dean Windass can’t see Jesse Lingard returning to West Ham this summer as he expects him to fight for a place at parent club Manchester United.
Lingard’s Old Trafford career looked bleak as recently as January when he failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the Red Devils during the first half of last season.
However, following an impressive return to form whilst on loan with the Hammers, Windass believes that he could now challenge for a spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Lingard contributed to 14 goals in 16 appearances during his short stay with West Ham, but whilst David Moyes will undoubtedly be hoping to have him back next season, according to the Daily Star, United are set to offer the attacker an improved three-year contract to convince him to stay at the club.
That comes despite United being on the verge of signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, which would surely decrease Lingard’s chances of becoming a regular.
Windass exclusively told Football FanCast:
“I can’t see him going back to West Ham, I just can’t. He’ll want to go back to Man U and he will want to get back into Manchester United’s team.”
