Rob Newman is eyeing a double West Ham United transfer swoop which would greatly please David Moyes as the end of the transfer window draws near.

What’s the news?

That’s according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook, who claims that West Ham are eyeing a double transfer raid on their Premier League rivals Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Armando Broja.

With the Blues setting a €20m (£17m) price tag for Loftus-Cheek and putting a £50m on Broja, West Ham may need to fork out £67m to complete a deal for both players this summer.

Moyes needs them both

Moyes has had a successful transfer window so far this summer, bringing in the likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Thilo Kehrer, and Nayef Aguerd as the Scot hopes to replicate last season’s achievements.

Nonetheless, it’s clear that he is on the lookout for another couple of signings to give the squad some greater depth ahead of another gruelling campaign which could yet involve another journey deep into European competition, and the Chelsea duo appear to be players that West Ham need.

Loftus-Cheek would add that extra dimension in the engine room, especially in an attacking sense. The 26-year-old ranked in the top 1% of midfielder throughout Europe's top five leagues for progressive carries (8.65 per 90) and dribbles completed per match (2.69), which shows that he isn’t afraid of pushing forward and contributing to his team's attack.

His defensive capabilities are also there for all to see, as he won 77.4% of his aerial duels last season, and Moyes would certainly appreciate having such a player who can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Although Scamacca has signed for West Ham, Moyes probably still needs another centre-forward - their only alternative Michail Antonio is 32 and can't be overly relied upon due to his unenviable injury record.

The Hammers have been perennially linked with Broja over the summer and it remains uncertain whether or not they will land him, especially with the massive price tag set by Chelsea.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Southampton and impressed significantly, scoring six Premier League goals as Ralph Hasenhuttl described him as “dangerous”. He appears to has the potential to improve even further, especially if he gets more game-time.

With Moyes relying on wingers Jarrod Bowen (17) and Said Benrahma (11) for goals last season, the priority appears to be adding to the centre-forward ranks to take this pressure off the wide men.

Signing Loftus-Cheek and Broja would conclude an excellent transfer window from a West Ham perspective and hopefully put them firmly on track to continue their stunning progress from last season.
