West Ham United have a handful of players in their current squad who are currently in their 30s.

The likes of Lukasz Fabianski, Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and Michail Antonio make up some of the Hammers' oldest squad members.

Another more senior player in David Moyes' ranks is Aaron Cresswell, who joined the east London club back in 2014 from Ipswich Town in a deal worth a reported fee of over £2m. Since then, the left-back has gone on to make 292 appearances for the Irons across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and delivering 34 assists along the way.

Having made 42 appearances for the club across all competitions last season, the 32-year-old is clearly an important figure for Moyes despite his advanced age.

With his contract at the London Stadium set to expire next summer, the current transfer window could give the Hammers the chance to secure a potential long-term replacement for the Englishman.

One man with whom the club have been linked and who could fit this particular bill is David Raum.

After working his way through the youth ranks at Greuther Furth and making 99 senior appearances, with six goals and 23 assists along the way, the left-back joined Hoffenheim last summer.

His debut season with the club saw the 24-year-old - who is currently valued at £18m by Transfermarkt - find the net three times and supply 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga matches.

This shows just how much of an attacking threat he can offer, in a similar way that Cresswell has done for the Irons since his arrival in east London.

From a defensive point of view, the German won more tackles and recorded more successful pressures, blocks and interceptions than the Hammers veteran, highlighting just how tough he can be without the ball and also being deadly with it going forward.

Described by Jan Aage Fjortoft on Twitter as a player with a "great engine", Raum could be the ideal heir for Cresswell at West Ham, given his clear talent for defending his goal whilst being a nuisance for opposition defences too.

Should an opportunity to secure a transfer for the Germany international arise this summer, the east Londoners should put themselves at the front of the queue to bring him to England.
