West Ham United have four players who have featured in every minute of Premier League action in the 2022/23 season so far.

One of those is Declan Rice, who also played more minutes in the league last term than any other outfield player at the east London club.

Having clearly shown how important he is to the team, the remaining week of the summer transfer window could give the Hammers the chance to bring in another midfielder who would give David Moyes the chance to form a potentially scary partnership alongside Rice.

One man who has been linked with a move to the London Stadium and who could do the trick is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who reportedly has a £50m price tag on his head.

During his loan spell with Crystal Palace last season, only two players started more league games than the Englishman (33), which shows just how reliable the 22-year-old is in terms of availability, similarly to Rice.

Another area where the two players share similarities is their ability to win tackles, with Rice topping the list at West Ham for 53 won last season, while Gallagher racked up the second-highest number of successful tackles at Palace with 44.

Bearing in mind how the Hammers have had a rather turgid start to their season by not only losing all three of their opening league games of the season but also conceding five goals in the process, having another midfielder who can help take the ball off opponents next to the current West Ham star could be just what they need to kick-start their season.

With only Wilfried Zaha (104) recording more shot-creating actions for Palace than Gallagher last term (89), and the 22-year-old scoring eight league goals for the Eagles, this shows that, along with being a capable defensive figure, he can be a threat in front of goal as well.

With Moyes' team also not having found the net in the league so far this season, this only further highlights the need for the Hammers to add a player like Gallagher - whose goal against the Irons last season was lauded as "outrageous" by Dan Cook - to their squad.

Taking all this into account, it's clear what the Chelsea ace would be able to offer Moyes' side from the middle of the pitch alongside Rice, and the 22-year-old could not only form a scary defensive duo at West Ham but also add an extra attacking dynamic to the team.
