Fabrizio Romano has dropped a transfer update regarding West Ham United's reported transfer interest in Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma.

What's the news?

The journalist and transfer expert recently took to Twitter to update followers on the latest developments regarding this particular link.

Romano said: "Danjuma’s camp remain ‘relaxed’ as player would be happy to continue at Villarreal next year if no agreement will be found. West Ham were ready to pay €40m, but far away on personal terms."

The Italian then added that the Hammers are now more focused on securing deals for their "top target" Armando Broja, as well as Jesse Lingard.

After scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists in 52 appearances for Bournemouth, the winger moved to Villarreal last summer for a fee of £21.3m.

West Ham fans will be gutted

In his debut season with the Spanish club, the 25-year-old found the net 16 times in 34 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League.

Some of those goals came against the likes of Atletico Madrid in the league, along with the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich in Europe's premier club competition.

This shows just how deadly an attacking figure Danjuma can be, even against some of Europe's top teams.

To further highlight his attacking talent, no other player in Unai Emery's squad had as many attempts at goal (59) or shots on target (25) as the former Cherries star. Also, only one other player at the club attempted as many dribbles as Danjuma (63) throughout the campaign.

Taking all this into account, it's safe to suggest that if the Hammers were to miss out on securing a deal for the Dutchman this summer, it would be a big disappointment for them given what he would be able to offer to David Moyes' side.

However, with Romano stating that the focus is on deals for Broja and Lingard, this should be a silver lining for the fans to enjoy.

There is still plenty of time left before the window closes for the east London club to make an agreement with Danjuma if they still want to pursue it.
