West Ham United have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.

What's the latest?

That's according to Claret and Hugh, with the Hammers insider revealing in a recent post that, despite concerns Declan Rice had picked up a knock in England's 3-3 Nations League draw with Germany on Monday, a key West Ham source has claimed that, after the club's medical staff assessed the 23-year-old, they are confident the midfielder will be fit to face Wolves this weekend.

In their post, Claret and Hugh said: "Declan Rice is expected to be fit for the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium on Saturday evening. The Hammers skipper has been strongly rumoured as having possibly sustained an injury whilst on international duty when overstretching and could be ruled out for a crucial game.

"However, although no details of the 'injury' have been revealed, a key insider told Claret and Hugh that Dec was expected to be fit for a game which could see us rise above the visitors and out of the bottom three. Our source explained that the medical staff were taking a look and that they were reasonably confident he would be available to take his place in the starting lineup."

Huge boost for Moyes

While West Ham's 2022/23 domestic campaign has not exactly got off to the best of starts - with the club currently languishing down in 18th place after seven games played - there has nevertheless been one player who has been an exceptionally consistent performer in David Moyes' starting XI - Rice.

Indeed, having started all seven of the Hammers' league fixtures so far this season, the £71m-rated star has been a shining light in the heart of midfield, making an average of 3.0 tackles - the joint 11th-most in the league - 1.7 interceptions, 1.6 clearances and winning 4.6 duels - at a success rate of 65% - per game.

The £60k-per-week England international has also chipped in for the Irons going forwards, registering two assists and creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to completing 89% of his passes, finding his man with an average of 3.4 long balls and completing an average of 0.4 dribbles per game.

These returns have seen the 23-year-old average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.14, not only ranking him by far and away as West Ham's best performer in the league but also as the 50th-best player in the English top flight as a whole - a quite remarkable feat considering the Hammers' disastrous start to the season.

As such, it is clear for all to see that Rice's availability from the off against Wolves will come as a huge boost to Moyes' chance of taking an incredibly important three points from the fixture - a result the 59-year-old will be desperate for in order to kick-start the Irons' 22/23 Premier League campaign.
