West Ham will look to bring in a forward in January

David Moyes could be set to solve one of his big West Ham United problems after transfer insider Dean Jones has issued an important update.

What’s the latest?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist claimed that the Hammers will look to bolster their forward line despite welcoming eight new faces in the summer window.

Jones claimed: “I was told that actually another forward is one of the things that West Ham are looking at in the January window, and I guess that’s a good sign for fans who think that Moyes isn’t attacking enough.

Do West Ham need another striker?

No

“But again, then you would have to question what’s going to change in terms of the dynamic he is getting out of the squad.”

The club have been linked with a host of strikers in recent weeks, with Boulaye Dia seemingly the most hotly-tipped name.

It fixes Moyes’ problem

Despite unloading £35.5m on Gianluca Scamacca, as well as supplementing him with Maxwel Cornet and Lucas Paqueta, there has been a lack of cutting edge at the London Stadium this season.

The Italian marksman, who was poised to be the long-term successor to Michail Antonio, has just two Premier League goals so far, having notched the bulk of his tally in the Europa Conference League.

There is certainly a bright future ahead for the 23-year-old, but he has struggled to quickly acclimatise to English football.

Meanwhile, Cornet too has disappointed, which could have contributed to the downturn in form from Jarrod Bowen.

How many points did West Ham end the Premier League season with?

With the Ivory Coast international having yet to score for the Irons, he has done little to help the English winger recapture his 18-goal and 13-assist form from last season.

Bowen has scored just twice this season in the league.

This lack of offensive threat has culminated in their dismal league position, where they sit just a point above the relegation zone having scored only 12 times in 15 games.

Perhaps it is someone like Dia who they need to come in and reignite Moyes’ toothless front line, with the Senegalese striker having already recorded eight goal contributions in Serie A this year.

Either way, they need something to fix this glaring issue in January.
