According to Sky Sports, West Ham are poised to move for Brentford star Said Benrahma once Grady Diangana is sold.

What's the word?

Diangana spent the 2019/2020 campaign on loan at West Brom, helping the Baggies earn promotion to the Premier League with eight goals and seven assists.

Now, Sky Sports claim that the 22-year-old is set for a permanent switch to the Hawthorns, with a fee reported to be around the £18m mark.

The report adds that once Diangana is sold in this transfer window, West Ham will make a "formal offer" for Benrahma, although they are set to face competition from fellow Premier League side Aston Villa for his signature.

The new Dimitri Payet

Whilst Payet may have left a sour taste with his acrimonious exit from West Ham, there is no question that the Frenchman was one of the most talented players in the club's recent history.

The play-maker could conjure up a bit of magic either with his incredible dribbling or his pin-point accuracy from free-kicks - you only have to look at his strikes against Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace to see that.

In Benrahma, West Ham can get their next Payet. The Algeria international was the star of the Bees' promotion charge last season, and whilst he couldn't get his side over the line in the Championship play-off final, there is no questioning his ability - Brentford B's assistant coach, Sam Saunders, even declared he "could nutmeg a mermaid".

He scored a remarkable 17 goals and provided a further ten assists in the league, whilst averaging an impressive 3.8 shots, 2.1 key passes and three dribbles per game. Whilst losing someone like Diangana may be painful, if it means they can land Benrahma in this transfer window then they may actually end up having the better player of the two.
