ExWHUemployee has dropped a big West Ham United transfer update that will leave supporters buzzing as David Moyes looks set to continue his summer spending.
With West Ham currently in the market for a striker, ExWHUemployee has dropped an update on Armando Broja, tweeting: “Club still very much in mix, still number 1 forward choice.”
This is good news for Moyes as he looks to boost his attacking options at the club and take the pressure off Michael Antonio next season.
Sky Sports reported in June that West Ham were set to bid £30m for the Chelsea striker, however, it might take a slightly higher fee for Thomas Tuchel to sell the 20-year-old, especially to a fellow Premier League side.
The club have made an excellent start to this summer’s transfer window, bringing in players of quality such as Nayef Ageurd and Flynn Downes, while also making Alphonse Areola’s move a permanent one following his loan spell last season from PSG.
A striker is the next obvious choice for Moyes, with the club being over-reliant on wingers Jarrod Bowen (17) and Said Benerahma (11) for goals last season.
Broja impressed whilst on loan at Southampton from Chelsea last year, netting nine goals which were enough to attract interest from the Hammers.
The club faces competition from Everton for his signature and if ExWHUemployee is right about the Albania international being their main target, Moyes will need to act quickly to get any potential deal over the line.
Indeed, Broja shouldn’t just be judged on goals alone, as compared to positional peers in the top five European Leagues, he ranks in the top 19% for completed dribbles (1.41 per 90), the top 14% for aerials won (4.28 per 90) and the top 18% for interceptions (0.59).
These stats prove that his all-round game is excellent and will continue to develop as time progresses. If Broja lives up to his potential, then Moyes could make a massive profit on the 20-year-old in a few years’ time.
