West Ham: ExWHUemployee makes Layvin Kurzawa claim

West Ham United could reportedly make a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa, as manager David Moyes seeks to further bolster his defensive ranks.

What’s the word?

According to trusted insider ExWHUemployee – writing on the West Ham Way Patreon page – the Hammers could well “explore” a deal for the Frenchman this summer, with a potential loan deal in the offing.

Should West Ham sign Kurzawa?

Yes!

Yes!

No

No

He stated: “A name that has been mentioned by us before and seems to be circulating again is the French international defender at PSG, Layvin Marc Kurzawa,

“The club could explore a loan-to-buy option with the player although it is thought we have a number of younger targets for this position too as Kurzawa is 29 and will be 30 in a couple of months.”

This follows the news that the 29-year-old has been left out of the Ligue 1 giants’ pre-season tour to Asia, heightening the possibility that he could be allowed to depart.

The 13-cap gem had previously been a target in January for the Premier League outfit, according to reports, with Newcastle United having also been named as a potential suitor.

Supporters buzzing

Having the chance to land such an experienced asset on a loan deal could well constitute a no-brainer for manager David Moyes, particularly with other areas of the pitch to focus on this summer, including at centre-forward.

There will undoubtedly be concerns at signing a player who made just a solitary appearance under Mauricio Pochettino last term – that coming in the Trophee des Champions clash in early August – although he could well provide useful competition to current first-choice left-back, Aaron Cresswell.

The £4.5m-rated ace has racked up 152 appearances in all competitions during his seven-year stay at the Parc des Princes, scoring 14 goals and providing 22 assists in that time since his arrival from Monaco in 2015.

Any deal may not be the long-term swoop that supporters would have been hoping for – amid links to both Luca Pellegrini and David Raum – although it could prove an astute piece of short-term business if they do sign Kurzawa, to allow more significant investment elsewhere.

How many points did West Ham end the Premier League season with?

Equally, should the player himself be keen on the move, it would be a marker of the Irons’ rise in recent times to be able to pluck a player from one of Europe’s elite sides, with supporters no doubt buzzing to be able to secure such a high profile addition.

AND in other news, Moyes can land Mbappe 2.0 with WHU bid for £40m gem who’s a “nightmare for defenders”
