West Ham United made their first senior signing of the January transfer window this week as they announced the arrival of Danny Ings from Aston Villa on a permanent deal.

The English marksman has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Hammers and has joined to bolster David Moyes' options at the top end of the pitch.

However, with over a week left to go before the end of the month, West Ham may not be done there as more signings could come through the door at the London Stadium in the coming days.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones claimed that both the Hammers and fellow Premier League side Southampton are pursuing a swoop for Lorient striker Terem Moffi.

“Yeah, I think that to be honest, both clubs are obviously in need of goals at the moment and they’re both chasing him; there’s no doubt that they are both interested in this deal.

“He’s got good data results and I think the problem is figuring out how well he will actually adapt to the pressure of delivering big goals in the Premier League at a moment when there’s going to be loads of pressure to do that.”

This comes after talkSPORT recently tweeted: "BREAKING: Lorient are set to reject West Ham’s £20m bid for Terem Moffi. The French side value the Nigerian international striker at closer to £30m. - talkSPORT sources understand."

The Hammers have had one offer turned down by the Ligue 1 club but Jones claims that they are still looking to get a deal done for the Nigerian attacker, who could form an exciting partnership with new signing Ings.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig previously hailed the gem as one of the most "prolific" young strikers in Europe and his statistics this season prove that he has an eye for goal.

Moffi has plundered an impressive 12 goals in 17 Ligue 1 starts for Lorient, after managing 22 goals in the previous two campaigns combined, and is showing that he can deliver in the final third on a regular basis.

Ings, meanwhile, scored six times in eight starts for Villa earlier this term and produced 46 goals in 100 appearances for Southampton prior to his move to Villa Park in 2021.

These statistics show that the Englishman is a proven scorer in the top-flight and, therefore, he could form an exciting partnership with Moffi if West Ham are able to sign the Lorient marksman.

Both players could provide a huge goal threat in the final third for Moyes' side, given their respective statistics this season, and supporters could enjoy watching them cause problems for defenders in the Premier League in the second half of the campaign.
