West Ham United have been named as one of the clubs who are 'keeping tabs' on Bristol City youngster Alex Scott following his breakthrough 2021/22 campaign.

What's the word?

According to Bristol World, the Hammers - along with Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United - are interested in the 18-year-old starlet, albeit with the Championship outfit seemingly in no rush to sell the playmaker, who has three years left on his current deal.

As per the report, the Robins' academy chief Brian Tinnion (speaking to BBC Radio Bristol) revealed that it would take a sizeable offer to tempt the club into a sale, saying: “I’m sure when top young talent are performing well the big clubs look so we aren’t daft and we know that,

“He’s contracted to the football club and he’s got three years of a contract here. We want to keep our best players to build on what we are doing for the future. I’m sure it would have to take a big, big, big offer for Alex Scott to go anywhere.” Previous reports have suggested the potential asking price could be as high as £10m if the Robins are to cash in this summer.

The next Bowen?

That clamour for his signature has no doubt been justified following a standout season under Nigel Pearson at Ashton Gate. The versatile gem - who can feature both in midfield and in a wider role - netted four goals and provided two assists in 38 league games for Bristol City. Not just impressive in attack, the "exceptional" talent - as described by Pearson - also performed admirably in a defensive sense, averaging 0.9 clearances, 1.3 interceptions and 1.6 tackles per match last term. He has followed up that sparkling form with another starring role in the recent European Championship success for Ian Foster's England under-19 side, notably netting a fine header in the semi-final win over Italy. Having featured in all five tournament games, the attention on the £2.5k-per-week menace looks set to ramp up even further, with a move to a Premier League club potentially on the cards - Scott is one of only three players in the Young Lions squad who is currently not associated with a top-flight team. Should a move to the London Stadium come to fruition, the highly-rated prospect - who began his career at non-league Guernsey FC - will be looking to follow in the footsteps of current Irons star Jarrod Bowen, with the 25-year-old having also started life lower down the footballing pyramid at Hereford United. Scott has previously admitted that he is looking to emulate the former Hull City forward and it is easy to see why, with Bowen having risen through the divisions to emerge as a focal point of David Moyes' side, while also earning international recognition. The four-cap gem - who received his first England call-up earlier this year - was signed from the Tigers in January 2020 on a £20m deal and has since gone on to become a leading figure for the east Londoners, scoring 26 goals and providing 21 assists in 101 games in all competitions thus far. That haul includes a superb tally of 12 goals and ten assists in the most recent top-flight campaign, with only Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold (12) and Mohamed Salah (13) setting up more goals in the Premier League last term. That explosive form has reportedly alerted the attention of those at Anfield, albeit with GSB set to hold out for a rumoured £75m fee if they are to cash in on one of their prized assets. Who knows, the east London club could have another major talent on their hands, like Bowen, if they can fend off rival competition to land young Scott this summer.
