West Ham United are interested in a deal to bring Youssef En-Nesyri to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), who claim that, after failing to land the Sevilla centre-forward in the last two transfer windows, David Moyes remains eager to land the 25-year-old this winter.

However, the report goes on to suggest that the LaLiga side would not be willing to lose the striker without a fight, and would only part with the Morocco international for a figure in the region of €40m (£35m) ahead of the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

"Unreal"

While it is true that En-Nesyri has not enjoyed the finest campaign so far this season - having scored just two goals over 15 appearances in all competitions - considering just how impressive the striker was for Morocco at the World Cup, coupled with the forward's remarkable returns for Sevilla in the past, it is easy to see why Moyes would be keen on the attacker.

Indeed, over his 38 LaLiga appearances back in 2020/21, the £21.5m-rated talent was in astonishing attacking form, scoring a quite remarkable 18 goals and creating a further six big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 2.1 shots per game - playing a key role in Sevilla securing a highly impressive fourth-place finish in the league that season.

The £106k-per-week hitman once again impressed over his seven fixtures in the World Cup this winter, hitting the back of the net twice, as well as taking an average of 1.3 shots and winning 4.7 duels - at a success rate of 60% - per match.

These returns saw the player who Aaron West dubbed "unreal" average a simply sensational Sofascore match rating of 6.90, ranking him as Morocco's joint ninth-best performer in Qatar - playing a crucial part in the Atlas Lions' extraordinary run to the semi-finals of the competition.

And, considering the fact that Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca have scored just four league goals between them so far this season, it is evident that the Hammers are in rather dire need of greater firepower heading into the second half of the campaign.

As such, should Moyes believe he can be the manager to help En-Nesyri refind his best form following a potential switch to West Ham in January, the £35m signing of the 57-cap international would very much appear to be an unreal coup for the Irons.
