West Ham United are interested in a deal to bring Ola Aina to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to Dean Jones, with the transfer insider revealing in a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT that, following a number of reports linking David Moyes with a move for the Torino full-back, there is a chance that the Hammers go on to get a deal over the line for the 26-year-old - whom the Serie A side are said to value at around €10m (£9m) - this month.

Regarding the Irons' pursuit of the Nigeria international, Jones said: "There is still a chance. He is one of the options that they've had in mind. Honestly, there are three or four teams at the moment with him on a shortlist. It's not 100% that he moves in this transfer window at all, but given the amount of interest it does seem like it's feasible."

An unreal signing

Considering just how impressive Aina has been in Italy in recent seasons, coupled with Vladimir Coufal having been extremely disappointing on the right of the Hammers' backline so far this term, the argument that Moyes simply must launch a move for the Torino defender in January is an easy one to make.

Indeed, over his 21 Serie A appearances in 2021/22, the £4m-rated talent was in exceptional form going forwards, creating five big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 0.5 shots, making 0.8 key passes and completing 0.9 dribbles per game.

The defender also caught the eye in metrics more typically associated with his position last time out, making an average of 1.3 interceptions, 1.3 tackles, 1.2 clearances and winning 4.3 duels - at a success rate of 53% - per match.

These returns saw the player who Michael Oti Adjei dubbed "unreal" average an extremely impressive Sofascore match rating of 6.82, ranking him as Torino's joint 15th-best player in the Italian top flight last season.

Aina has impressed once again over his ten Serie A outings in the current campaign, with the £31k-per-week full-back having scored one goal and created three big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 0.6 shots, making 0.7 key passes and completing 1.1 dribbles per fixture.

The 26-year-old has also shone in a defensive capacity this term, making an average of 1.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.4 clearances and winning 4.3 duels - at a success rate of 55% - per game.

These metrics have seen the 29-cap international average an even more impressive Sofascore match rating of 6.88, currently ranking him as Ivan Juric's seventh-best performer in the top flight of Italian football.

As such, with Aina quite clearly being as equally solid at the back as he is going forwards, it would indeed appear as if the former Chelsea starlet would make an unreal addition to Moyes' current options at right-back, leading us to believe that the 59-year-old manager simply must do everything in his power to get a deal over the line for the Nigerian this winter.
