West Ham: Huge update emerges on David Moyes’ future

An encouraging update has emerged on the future of David Moyes at West Ham United and it’ll surely leave many absolutely in East London absolutely delighted…

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, the Irons’ hierarchy are becoming increasingly confident that the 58-year-old will sign a new three-year extension to his contract after fresh talks on Friday.

Moyes was named as a shock contender for the vacant Everton job during the week after Carlo Ancelotti stunned Goodison Park by returning to his former club, Real Madrid.

Are you pleased that Moyes is staying?

It’s claimed that negotiations hit a hurdle amid interest from his old team but now there is confidence that the Scot is set to remain at the London Stadium.

In May, Moyes claimed talks over a new deal were “well down the line,” though now in June, we’re yet to see or hear an official announcement.

Hammers boost

There’s no denying that the West Ham boss has been a key orchestrator in their phenomenal turnaround in fortunes in the past 12 months or so.

Having saved the Hammers from relegation with one game to spare during the interrupted 2019/20 campaign, the former Manchester United and Real Sociedad coach steered them into a place in the Europa League next term by clinching sixth place, ahead of teams like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Moyes has been close to sealing a return to the Toffees before as he was considered by Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri before opting for Ancelotti, so it’s no surprise that many in East London were quickly concerned by the news, especially as there was no fresh news on his contractual situation.

But now this new development provides West Ham with a major boost as it shows the Scotsman is committed to the club for the long-term, and that’ll allow him to build on his fine work this season.

Can you name all 10 ex-Hammers? First up... He assisted the first goal at the London Stadium but made only 8 appearances for the Irons, who is he?

Talks at Rush Green have evidently ended positively, so it’s time for the Irons to kickstart their summer business, where both the manager and the fans are desperate to see Jesse Lingard arrive permanently.

His nine goals and four assists helped the Hammers over the line, whilst it is no secret that a new striker is of top priority.

With Moyes close to sealing his long-term future, fans in E20 can start to get a little more excited heading into a historic campaign.
