A fresh update has emerged in West Ham's mooted pursuit of Hwang Hee-chan...

What's the word?

According to the Telegraph's Mike McGrath, the RB Leipzig frontman is being monitored by the Irons ahead of a potential summer move.

It is thought that the 25-year-old, who is seen as good value for money, is available for just £10m and is expected to be allowed to leave after having a January exit blocked.

The Hammers could be priced out of a £40m move for Tammy Abraham, so the South Korean international is an affordable target for the European-chasing London side.

Glaring problem

It is no secret that one of West Ham's biggest problem right now is the lack of options in attack.

After selling Sebastien Haller in January, GSB failed to secure David Moyes a viable replacement, meaning he was left with only one senior striker in Michail Antonio, who often struggles with injury troubles.

Recently, his absence has seen loan sensation Jesse Lingard and winger Jarrod Bowen lead the line but to poor effect, so it's increasingly evident that the 58-year-old boss needs at least one new forward in the summer.

And at just £10m, Hwang is hugely appealing.

His own campaign has been hampered by coronavirus and his subsequent recovery but there is still a proven goalscorer in there somewhere, it would just be on Moyes to get it back out of him.

The versatile 25-year-old attacker has bagged 63 goals in his career, with the bulk coming during a very fruitful spell at RB Salzburg, playing alongside Erling Haaland and Patson Daka.

Returns of 16 goals and 22 assists in 2019/20 across both the Austrian top-flight and the Champions League earned him the next step-up in the Red Bull progression path, signing for Leipzig for £15m last summer.

Hwang has been described as an "exceptional" player with "brutal dynamism" and drawn many comparisons to Roberto Firmino as well as fellow countryman Heung-min Son.

Indeed, they are both capable of playing wide as an inside-forward, as well as leading the line. A very interesting threat to have at Moyes' disposal.

The 5 foot 10 dynamo is also said to be great friends with the Spurs star, as per the Evening Standard, so he would surely have no trouble in settling in London.

GSB could fix one of Moyes' glaring issues for as little as £10m, they have to strike on Hwang this summer.
