West Ham may have just received an encouraging boost in their bid to sign loan sensation Jesse Lingard on a permanent basis...

What's the word?

It's thought that Manchester United will consider realistic offers for their squad and fringe players this summer transfer window, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder is someone who falls into this category, alongside some big names like Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek, as well as fellow outcasts Diogo Dalot and Andreas Pereira.

A decision is yet to be made on Lingard's future at Old Trafford but it's claimed that he is keen for regular first-team opportunities as he looks to win back his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

There have been reports suggesting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be offered a new three-year contract, as per the Daily Star, but they do not rule out a return to the Hammers.

Major boost?

If Lingard wants to achieve minutes on the pitch then returning to the London Stadium is surely his best option after a successful loan spell in the second half of last season.

He bagged nine goals and provided a further five assists, via Transfermarkt, where he played an integral role in the Hammers qualifying for the Europa League.

It's no wonder Irons boss David Moyes is absolutely desperate to keep him.

"I hope Jesse’s here, we’d like to keep him, he’s done an exceptional job for us but there’s no guarantees, he’s not our player," the Scotsman told reporters after the final game of the campaign (via the Evening Standard). "But I hope Jesse realises we’ve been good for him as well, and that he joined a club on the up."

The £19.8m-rated dynamo would be the main star in East London once again but back in Manchester, he's likely to be third or fourth choice behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, van de Beek and perhaps even Jadon Sancho.

Therefore, this latest claim is quite exciting for West Ham's chances of sealing him this summer, Moyes will certainly be buzzing as it bolsters such claims.

United are said to want in the region of £25m for his services and after the season he's just had, GSB would be crazy to not pay it.

The Hammers have got to be in a strong position to seal him permanently. Moyes can offer him much more game time on the pitch than Solskjaer, that's for sure.

AND in other news, Moyes must seal Hammers move for £26m-rated "absolute beast" who's "similar" to Vidic...
