Wolves made some key decisions in January with Nuno Espirito Santo making the somewhat bold call to loan out Patrick Cutrone to Fiorentina just a few months after signing him for £16m.

However, that outgoing was matched by the signing of Daniel Podence from Olympiacos, who arrived for a fee of £16.6m and with 10 goal contributions to boast of from his time in Greece this season.

It was always going to be difficult for the 24-year-old to break into the team, and with Diogo Jota recapturing his form since January - recording a recent run of six goals in five games - his task was made all the more difficult.

Despite that, it is also quite difficult to see where he fits into Wolves' system, with their rigid style not really allowing a natural winger like Podence.

Adama Traore's success with six goals and ten assists this term does give him an example to emulate, however, and as he learns what Nuno wants from him he may begin to feature more often.

He has played just 42 minutes in the league but got more joy in Europe, where he hasn't taken long to demonstrate his tremendous pace and the threat he poses when running in behind.

The second leg against Espanyol was evidence of that, as Podence's quick-thinking allowed him to create a run from a throw-in, before he darted to the byline and put in a clinical cross for Matt Doherty to tap home easily.

Premier League Inflation: You won't believe how much these famous transfers would cost today...

That demonstrates why he was brought in and perhaps why supporters may be keen to see him in action when football returns.

In transfer news, one Wolves star has emerged as a target of clubs across Europe...
