Exclusive: Steve Bull claims Wolves must sign an English midfielder

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Steve Bull who made 561 appearances for Wolves, believes they should be looking to the domestic market for their summer signings this year.

Wolves have become known for their Protugsues influence on the Premier League which starts with both Nuno Espirito Santo and Jorge Mendes and they now have eight Portuguese players in their first-team squad.

Do Wolves need more English players?

Those Portuguese players have all been regulars for Wolves this season, with Vitinha having made the smallest impact with just 13 appearances, however the likes of Rui Patricio and Pedro Neto have started all 30 games in the Premier League this season.

Speaking on what type of player Wolves should be targeting this summer and how he doesn’t know where they will target, Bull told FFC:

“You could do this every week talking about potential players but unless we’ve got Jorge Mendes in front of us, I don’t know whether he’ll be going Portuguese, English or even if Nuno has a say or not.

We need somebody from the Premier League, an English player who’s doing it or has done it before.”

Who is this player?

Wolves have been operating with a double pivot of Joao Moutinho and Ruben neves since their promotion to the Premier League, but with the former 35-years old this year it could be time for a replacement.

They have an option to make Vitinha’s loan move from Porto a permanent one at the end of the season but they have also been linked with Josh Brownhill from Burnley.
