While the Molineux faithful were watching Nouha Dicko and Dave Edwards charge around in League One as recently as 2014, they surely wouldn't have believed they'd be involved in the Europa League last 16 with the likes of Ruben Neves pulling strings and Raul Jimenez leading the line.

However, that is exactly where the Midlands-based club are at right now under Nuno Espirito Santo.

It is a fantastic time to be a Wolves fan, but what could the future hold for one of their star players who is performing so well right now?

In Jimenez's case, the sky is the limit right now, and that could well be a pitfall for Wolves.

The 82-cap Mexico international has enjoyed a stunning season which has seen him net 22 goals and also tally up ten assists, thrusting him to the top of Wolves' all-time Premier League scoring ranks.

However, he has been linked with a move to 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid, as well as Manchester United recently as a result of his fine efforts - he told ESPN Mexico that he is open to anything.

While Molineux is a fantastic place to be right now, clubs of this nature would be hard to turn down.

However, Jimenez is under contract at Wolves until 2023, so Nuno has no need to sell unless a seismic offer arrives.

Having said that, for a man in his prime at 28 years of age, he could potentially decide to spend one more year at Wolves before the club decide to cash in on him, as he will be 30 next summer with only two years left on his contract.

As good as he is, the Mexican will be 29 in May and - as aforesaid - 30 next summer, so Wolves won't have the chance to make a profit on their £30m investment for much longer.

The former Atletico Madrid striker is currently valued at £45m, but if Wolves aren't smart and allow him to stay beyond his prime, then they could lose out on a lot of cash.

While this is fairly hypothetical, one thing is for certain - it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Jimenez.
