Wolves have been heavily linked with Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic in recent days and the Austrian could be a big upgrade on Raul Jimenez in Bruno Lage's side.

The Old Gold have reportedly opened talks with the Bundesliga side over a potential £17m deal for the six-foot-seven striker, as Lage looks to bolster his attacking options after a difficult start to the new season.

Wolves have one point and one goal from their opening three Premier League fixtures, with last season's problems in front of goal continuing to be an issue for Lage.

Last season saw Wolves manage just 38 goals in the top flight, with Jimenez finishing as the club's top scorer with a measly six league goals, which emphasises that attacking reinforcements were needed this summer if Lage's side were to avoid dropping down the table again.

While Goncalo Guedes will add some quality in the final third, last season was the first time in his career that he hit double figures, and it would be unfair to expect him to be the main goalscoring output in his first season in England.

Therefore, a move for Kalajdzic would make a lot of sense for Lage, when you take into his account his impressive form in the Bundesliga in recent seasons.

During his time with Die Schwaben, the 25-year-old has contributed 24 goals and 12 assists in just 60 appearances and has started the new campaign in fine creative form, registering three Bundesliga assists in his opening three fixtures.

Jimenez would manage just four assists in the Premier League in 34 appearances last season, which suggests that his Austrian counterpart would be much better at linking the play in attack.

As per WhoScored, the Mexican forward would win an average of 1.9 aerial duels per game, compared to Kalajdzic's 4.1 in the Bundesliga, which again emphasises that the Stuttgart man could add a "crazy" aerial threat and hold the ball up better for Wolves' speedy wingers.

At 25, Kalajdzic represents a much better long-term option than the 31-year-old Jimenez, who has sadly not been the same player since suffering his fractured skull injury.

Wolves desperately need a goalscorer and Jimenez's 1.7 shots per game last season suggest that he is no longer the answer, so Lage should look to bring in Kalajdzic as his new main man at Molineux.
