Wolverhampton Wanderers received a mouth-watering fee over the summer for their academy’s shining light Morgan Gibbs-White.

The 22-year-old was signed for a whoing £42.5m by Nottingham Forest, who invested heavily to bring in 22 new faces.

Although his game time had been limited at the Old Gold, a successful loan spell at Sheffield United had clearly peaked the attention of the Tricky Trees.

This marks a fine success story from the Wolves academy, as they managed to secure a huge financial boost from one of their prospects.

They could be set to produce another young star now, with Theo Corbeanu having been sent on a similar loan to the Championship.

The 20-year-old Canadian has been brought through the academy just like Gibbs-White before him, and with three goals in his first ten league games for Blackpool, he is taking to senior football considerably well.

Having already made his debut for the senior team, he is obviously well thought of within the club.

He had scored seven times in 26 appearances for the under-21 side, as well as contributing to two assists.

Corbeanu has scored goals for every club he has featured for in England, but he actually already boasts six caps for his national side. The youngster has scored twice for Canada during this time, marking an experience far beyond his years.

His boss at under-23s level James Collins also had plenty of positive things to say about the wonderkid:

“He’s athletic, tall, can head it, can defend, can dribble past people and score, he can shoot, he can pass, he’s both footed, he’s got a bit of everything.”

He continued: “He’s an outstanding prospect.”

The tricky attacker is inundated with talent and having made the step up from his League One loans to the Championship; his next step is being made clear.

If he can make a success whilst at the Seasiders, there’s no doubting that he can come into the senior squad and ruffle the feathers of the current crop of underperforming forwards.

He could save manager Bruno Lage and the club millions as he now might not have to seek added reinforcements to bolster his squad.
