Since Fosun took over Wolves back in 2016, the Midlands club have done their fair share of spending money on new players to help the Old Gold navigate their way through the Premier League each year.

Out of all the players that have been brought in under Fosun's reign, not all of them have been particularly successful at Molineux.

One player that the club paid a significant amount of money for that could be put into this category is striker Fabio Silva.

75 weeks ago, Wolves spent a club-record transfer fee of £35.6m to FC Porto to sign the 19-year-old in September 2020.

Since then, the teenager has made 53 appearances for Bruno Lage's side across all competitions but has only managed to rack up four goals and six assists, which would undoubtedly be less than what Wolves would have hoped for given the big investment they made in him.

As well as his lack of consistent goals and assists, the youngster's performances have been rather underwhelming as well, which have led to journalist Tariq Panja describing Wolves' signing of Silva as "baffling."

Last season, the attacker made 32 league appearances and started 11 of them but only managed to earn himself an overall performance rating of 6.3/10, making him one of Wolves' lowest-rated players according to WhoScored.

With just one start and 12 substitute appearances in the league this season, it's safe to say that Lage doesn't see Silva, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £37k-per-week according to Salary Sport, as a regular starter for his side yet, especially since his performance rating this season is lower than his previous one.

Taking all of this into account, it does feel as though Fosun may have made a questionable decision in spending such a large amount of money on Silva, who arguably hasn't been justifying either his price tag or wages which comes to a combined total of £38.3m, in a Wolves shirt yet.

Moving forward, given how young the Portuguese striker is, he certainly has enough time ahead of him to find his rhythm and get some consistency under his belt if Lage sees enough in him that he can do a job for his side in the future, but he will have to surely fix up his performances first.
