Bruno Lage’s side once again offered very little in terms of attacking threat and went down to goals from Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen in either half.
One man who hasn’t helped Lage’s cause is summer signing Goncalo Guedes, who has undoubtedly been a disappointing arrival.
There was understandable hope and excitement amongst Wolves fans when the attacker joined, having scored 11 times and assisted six goals in La Liga last season.
However, he has just one assist to his name so far in the Premier League and was largely anonymous once again against the Hammers on Saturday.
As per FotMob, the Portugal international would earn a shocking 5.8/10 rating for his performance, which was the joint-worst of any outfield player on the pitch.
During the game, Guedes would win just one of his four duels, resulting in a 25% success rate, as West Ham’s centre-back pairing well and truly dominated him both on the ground and in the air.
The Portuguese winger would also fail with his only dribble attempt, have one shot and complete just 15 passes during the game, all of which were lower than his season average thus far, which emphasises that he wasn’t at his best on Saturday.
When Guedes made the move to Molineux during the summer, talkSPORT European expert Andy Brassell was full of praise for the former PSG man.
He said: “For Wolves I think Guedes will be absolutely fantastic.”
“He’s someone who can play as a striker or as a winger, lightning quick, on his day as good as it gets.”
However, that simply hasn’t come to fruition and if Lage does get the sack because of a lack of goals and poor performances, then you feel that the £27.5m Guedes should take some of the blame after a poor start to life at Molineux.
