Wolves may have picked up just their second win of the Premier League season on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest but the Old Gold are seemingly still focused on bringing in a replacement for Bruno Lage.

The former Benfica boss was sacked after a 2-0 defeat to West Ham two weeks ago, which left the Old Gold in the relegation places with just three goals to their name.

What's the word?

It was hoped that Julen Lopetegui, fresh from his sacking at Sevilla, would be the man to take over at Molineux but he turned down Wolves' approach due to the ill health of his father.

A plethora of managers have been linked with the vacant post since then, including a new name at the weekend.

Express and Star journalist Liam Keen has claimed that QPR manager Michael Beale is on Wolves' shortlist for new managers.

He said: "QPR boss Michael Beale is being considered by Wolves for their head coach vacancy. The former Villa assistant coach has impressed in his first season as a manager. He is one of a number of names Wolves are looking at, but no contact has been made."

A big risk for Fosun

Beale has previously worked with Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa and Rangers as an assistant manager before becoming the head coach with QPR during the summer.

It was his work there where he was heralded quite considerably by those he worked with, being dubbed a "genius" by former Gers striker Jermain Defoe while Kyle Lafferty claimed he was the 'brains' behind Gerrard's success in Glasgow.

It's hardly a surprise, therefore, that he's had an impressive start to life at Loftus Road, with Beale's QPR sitting fourth in the Championship on seven wins, three draws and four losses from the opening 14 games.

The 42-year-old certainly looks like a fantastic coach but while he has plenty of know-how when it comes to being an assistant, it would be a very bold move by Fosun to consider such a young manager with no experience managing in the Premier League and with just 14 Championship matches under his belt.

With the Old Gold very much in a relegation battle right now, they surely need to select a more experienced option to help keep them in the Premier League, so while it could be beneficial to appoint Beale in the long term, it would be a huge risk to bring him in right now.

Perhaps Fosun ought to revisit this one in the future.
