Presenter Dave Azzopardi has slammed Wolves defender Max Kilman for a mistake he made during the club's most recent win.

What's the word?

Julen Lopetegui's men picked up a much-needed three points in the Premier League this weekend as they stunned Liverpool with a comprehensive win.

Indeed, the Molineux crowd were treated to a fine performance as an own goal from Joel Matip and a Craig Dawson effort gave Wolves a 2-0 lead after just 12 minutes before Ruben Neves sealed the 3-0 win later on.

However, the Reds did have the chance to get back into the game a 2-0 down when Kilman allowed a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass to sail over his head, forcing Jose Sa to pull off a fine save from Darwin Nunez who ran through on goal.

Speaking about the incident on Talking Wolves, Azzopardi said (2:44): “When the ball came over the top and Kilman  – very similar to the Villa goal we conceded – it just goes over Kilman’s head.

"And I don't know what he was doing. But in the end, Jose Sa produced a good save."

Poor defending

As Azzopardi mentions, a similar ball over the top undid the Wolves defence in their recent 1-1 away draw against Aston Villa. So this could be a worrying trend that Lopetegui might have to address on the training pitch.

Fortunately, against Liverpool, Kilman's mistake didn't cost his team and the defender actually put in a fine display beyond this one big incident. Indeed, as per SofaScore, he earned an 8.6 match rating with six clearances, five blocked shots, two clearances of the lines and an 85 per cent passing accuracy.

Seeing as only Ruben Neves has a better average WhoScored rating in the league than the defender (beyond Craig Dawson who has only played one game), it's safe to say Kilman's error can be forgiven as he's been pretty solid otherwise this season.
