Under the guidance of new manager Bruno Lage, Wolves have managed to climb to eighth place in the Premier league table with 34 points on the board from 21 games played.

Having already entered the second half of the campaign, it seems as though the Old Gold will look to have one of their key players back in action in the coming weeks to help continue the team's push for European football.

What's the latest?

According to The Athletic's Wolves journalist Tim Spiers, Pedro Neto, who has been out of action since April last year with a serious knee injury, "should be back in full training in the next couple of weeks."

Wolves signed Neto back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Italian club Lazio and have since seen the attacker make 79 appearances for the team across all competitions, bagging ten goals and providing 11 assists along the way.

Lage will be ecstatic

Last season saw the 21-year-old really flourish in a Wolves shirt as he ended the campaign as their joint-highest rated player according to WhoScored with an overall rating of 7.11/10 as well as five strikes and six assists under his belt, highlighting just how important he can be for the team in an attacking sense.

Taking into account how Wolves have not been particularly potent in front of goal this season in the league with just 19 scored, Lage will surely be over the moon to have such a capable attacking threat such as Neto in his side to hopefully give the Old Gold a bit more bite going forward.

Also, with the Midlands club saying goodbye to Adama Traore last month, this will only further their need to have an experienced attacking player such as the Portuguese winger back in the team as soon as possible.

Moving forward, if Neto can return to full training and eventually back on the pitch as soon as possible, this would surely be a great boost for Wolves and their chances of ending the season on a strong note, especially if the winger can pick up where he left off in terms of scoring and creating goals.

However, given the seriousness and the amount of time he's been out of action for the Wolves medical and coaching team will have to be careful not to rush him back too quickly so he doesn't end up in danger of further aggravating his knee, which could then have dire consequences.
