Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-forward Patrick Cutrone is edging closer to an exit from Molineux this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to reports from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb (via Sport Witness), with it being claimed that both Sampdoria and Bologna are keeping a close eye on the situation of the 23-year-old ahead of a potential move this summer.

However, the report continues by stating that both teams will have to move players on from their own squads before being able to afford a deal for the Italy U21 international in the current market.

Meanwhile, Cutrone himself has spoken rather candidly regarding his desire to secure a transfer away from Wolves, suggesting that he and his agent are actively working on an escape route from the Premier League club ahead of next season.

Lage must axe Cutrone

Having burst onto the scene for AC Milan as a 19-year-old back in 2017, going onto score 10 goals and provide four assists over 28 Serie A appearances in his breakthrough season with I Rossoneri, it is quite easy to see why Nuno Espirito Santo splashed £23m on signing the young striker in the summer of 2019.

However, unfortunately for both Cutrone and Wolves, things have not exactly worked out between the pair following the 23-year-old's big-money move to Molineux.

Indeed, after scoring two goals over 12 games in the first half of the club's 2019/20 Premier League campaign, the £8.1m-rated man was then sent back to Serie A for the second half of the season, bagging four goals and registering two assists over 19 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina.

The striker remained with La Viola for the start of 2020/21, before being called back to Wolves in January, only for Nuno to send the forward out on loan once again just 24 days later, this time to Valencia.

In total, over his two-year spell in Wolverhampton, the £63k-per-week Cutrone has featured just 28 times in all competitions for the club, scoring three goals and providing four assists along the way.

As such, it would be difficult to argue against Nuno's signing of the Italian - whose own agent claimed has "gone into oblivion" since his move to the club - being anything other than a disaster, with it appearing highly advisable for Bruno Lage to do all he can to secure the 23-year-old a move away from Wolves this summer.
