It's hard to argue against the work Fosun have done to turn Wolverhampton Wanderers into a recognised and stable Premier League outfit.
A Championship crown was duly followed up by qualification for the Europa League, where they would go on to be beaten by eventual winners Sevilla in the knockout stages.
But their lasting legacy must be so much more than that.
The Chinese conglomerate, led by chairman Jeff Shi, have always wanted to improve the youth academy to start producing from within, which in turn, could help generate substantial profit in the long run.
However, they have clearly made a substantial mistake in letting a former U23 star depart for free in the summer of 2019.
After 23 appearances and nine goals during a promotion-winning Premier League 2 campaign, Pedro Goncalves was allowed to leave Molineux without a transfer fee to Primeira Liga newcomers Famalicao.
Where is Goncalves now?
After one impressive season there, Goncalves has commanded a respectable €7m (£6.4m) transfer to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon this summer, meaning Fosun's decision to offload him for peanuts is now looking rather silly.
Per WhoScored, the 22-year-old nicknamed 'Pote' provided five goals and five assists in the league and also averaged 2.2 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game.
To compound Wolves' decision further, he's started two of Sporting's three Primeira Liga matches this term. In fact, he only missed their opener through testing positive for coronavirus.
If Fosun are to live out their lofty long-term ambitions, then letting players like Pote leave not just prematurely, but without some sort of price, buy-back or sell-on clause is absolutely inexcusable.
It puts a massive dent into the veracity of their words but they can make amends by never making the same mistake again - thankfully Bruno Jordao is only on loan at the very same club Goncalves departed for.
The Molineux chiefs must do better to reach that ultimate end goal.
AND in other news, Wolves must tie key star down as TOP priority...
