Wolverhampton Wanderers may have agonisingly lost Diogo Jota this summer window, but they can count their lucky stars that they didn't land one hell of a flop in return.

According to the Times, once a line of communication was established with the Premier League champions, discussions were made over potential signings they could grab in return for losing their star man.

They eventually settled on Ki-Jana Hoever, though one name that was mentioned was Rhian Brewster, who went on to sign for basement boys Sheffield United for a club-record £23.5m.

And whilst no replacement was signed for the departed Portuguese sensation, Nuno Santo will be glad that he didn't push to sign the faltering frontman.

Brewster is yet to score for the Blades having featured four times since joining. Per WhoScored, he's averaged only 0.3 shots and 0.8 aerials won per match and hasn't even recorded a successful dribble either.

It means the 20-year-old has an expected goals ratio of just 0.22 per 90 minutes and a total of only 0.57 for the season, as per Understat - for comparison, Raul Jimenez recorded an xG of 0.45 per 90 last season.

The Reds academy graduate has always been touted for big things throughout his youth career, so perhaps on the one hand, it is a surprise to see him struggle but evidently, Jurgen Klopp didn't think that much of him to let him depart over someone like Divock Origi.

Brewster has been described as someone who's "fearless" and "delighted to take players on" but that's just not been the case thus far at Bramall Lane.

Even Jadon Sancho has waxed lyrical about his ability, claiming that his former England U17 World Cup-winning teammate is a "great player" who "causes defenders nightmares".

This has been echoed by the Reds' goalkeeping options with Brewster being a "nightmare" to try and stop in training.

Zero goals and a total of one shot in four appearances isn't going to strike fear into anyone let alone some of the centre-backs Wolves will face this season.

Nuno absolutely dodged a bullet with Brewster, who has also been dubbed a "real threat," but it's not as if anyone is going to usurp Jimenez at Molineux anytime soon.
