Wolves interested in Robert Renan

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Corinthians youngster Robert Renan.

That is according to journalist Jorge Nicola (via Sport Witness), who claims that Renan’s agent Eduardo Bou Daye has been in England over the past few days “building contacts with a few clubs.”

As per the report, Wolves are one of those clubs who got in touch.

Whilst no official bids have been made as of yet, it is claimed that a fee of around €10m (£9m) would be an acceptable offer to Corinthians.

Wolves will have a lot of competition for his signature, with Borussia Dortmund said to have also been in touch with the young Brazilian, with Nicola sating that European attention over 18-year-old Renan has been big.

Having made just two first-team appearances for Corinthians, there is not much data to go on and as a result, you can almost certainly bet that Renan would arrive as an option for the future.

Should Lage move for Renan?

Given his tender years, he lacks experience at this time in his career having had limited exposure in his senior career.

However, with the level of competition surrounding his much-coveted signature, it certainly appear as if he “has a lot of potential” – as stated by Rodrigo Fragoso on Twitter.

From Fragoso’s observation, Renan is a left-footed centre-back, with this role becoming a premium in the market as of late.

Which club did Wolves loan Willian Jose from in the 2021 January transfer window?

It never hurts to plan for the future and overall, whilst a slight gamble, it’s an astute move from Lage and co, who will have had their confidence increased by a side like Borussia Dortmund who are also vying for his signature.

A move to Molineux may be astute from Renan’s perspective too, with the likes of Captain Conor Coady having the potential to be a great influence on his development.

Indeed, should Lage go on to seal a deal for the teenager this summer, it would certainly be an exciting deal for Wolves to get over the line.
