An update has emerged on Wolves beast Ruben Neves, regarding interest in his services from another Premier League side...

What's the talk?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United could make a move for the Portuguese midfielder in the January window.

The report claims that he is one of a number of players Ralf Rangnick could look to bring to Old Trafford in the winter window.

Fume

Wolves boss Bruno Lage could be heading for a January disaster if United come calling for Neves. It would be a major blow to lose the ex-Porto man as he is a crucial player for the club and fans would surely fume if he were to leave.

Last season, he averaged a WhoScored rating of 6.81 as he produced five goals and one assist in 36 Premier League appearances. He also made an impressive 4.2 tackles and interceptions per game, which highlights his ability to make an impact at both ends of the pitch as he is an offensive threat who also puts himself about to win the ball back for his side.

Former Wolves man Sylvain Deslandes previously lauded the ace, saying: “I mean he is a very, very talented player. We immediately saw it. From his very first minutes in the Championship, he blew everybody’s mind with the science behind his ball placement and his aesthetically pleasing way of playing.

"But especially, we were astounded by his passing skills and his great shot capacity from long range. But it should be said that his success was also made possible by the team he plays in and the teammates he plays with. There are other very gifted guys at Wolves that convert his passes and allow him to fully express himself on the pitch.”

This highlights how special Neves is and his aforementioned statistics add to his value to the club, as he has proven that he can perform consistently in the top-flight. Fans would be angry with his exit as losing him would take a major piece of the team's core away and leave Lage scrambling to replace him in the market whilst games are going on around it.

It would be beneficial for Wolves to keep hold of him until the end of the season, at least, in order to give themselves time to find an adequate replacement.

Only having a few weeks to find a player to come in for Neves could lead to mistakes being made as they would not have ample time on their hands to get a deal done, which is why selling the Portuguese international would be a disaster for Lage that would surely enrage supporters at Molineux.
